Om rings are of Hindu origin and represent the beginning of all creation. The mantra Om is the most sacred symbol in all of Hinduism and Buddhism. The name Om stems from the peaceful and healing vibration of the sound Om which is a common sound of meditation. If you’ve ever taken a yoga class, its likely that your yoga instructor chanted the sound Om at the beginning and end of the session.
The vibrations of the sound Om represent the manifestation of God. When chanting Om letter by letter, A-U-M, the divine energy of Shakti is signified which consists of three elements including Bhrahma Shakti (creation), Vishnu Shakti (preservation) and Shiva Shakti (liberation, and/or destruction).
The shape of the Om symbol embodies spiritual meaning. The “A” of A-U-M is signified by the lower long curve and represents the conscious mind. The “U” represents the dreaming state and is signified by the curve that starts at the center and flows right. The “M” is signified by the upper portion of the left-hand curve and represents the deep meditative mind. The small upward curve at the top of the symbol is called the veil of illusion that separates finite from infinity and is represented by the silence following “Om”. On top of the veil is a dot which represents the absolute state of consciousness.
Om rings such as the ones featured in the picture allows you to incorporate Om and its peaceful sanctity into your everyday life.
